Cheap and Cheerful!

I like to experiment with a wide variety of shampoos and conditioners from time to time (when I get paid :) )  and the reality is sometimes cheaper brands can really do the trick and provide an alternative to more expensive, (overpriced) products. My biggest pet peeve is overpaying because as a student, and a rather tight one at that, I cannot justify spending amounts on products that are for my hair. A really good example of  cheap and cheerful products are the Alberto Basalm- strawberries and cream shampoo and conditioner. They retail at about £1.20 each and smell amazing, they personally remind me of strawberry calpol when I was a child so I adore the smell. This is a good,- cheap and cheerful product, and although you shouldn't expect revitalised, nourished hair it does the job and leaves your hair feeling clean and relatively soft! I recommend NOT using them together if you are looking to make your hair picture perfect, but combining them with other products will make them more effective. Products like these are great for holidays, quick showers, diluting your monthly beauty expenditure, or just to have handy if you have countless people over!

Mini-Haul!

Here are some products I picked up recently at superdrug! I love being nosey and seeing what others have bought so if you like that too Enjoy! If you would like a review comment!

First I picked up a
'Zesty Original Source shower gel'(FAR LEFT)  I love how fresh this shower gel is and I need as much help to wake in the mornings as possible. the smell reminds me of obviously lemon, but in particular the lemon jam tarts... yum!

'Aussie Mega Shampoo 500ml' (CENTRE)- Aussie is one of my favourite shampoos therefore I had to pick one up. I recommend this product completely, Aussie really hydrates and softens my hair, not to mention I love the smell of the Australian paw flower.  to utilise this product I never use the shampoo and conditioner together, either one or the other. I also find this benefits and nourishes my hair better in the long-run if I use Aussie products separately.

' Neutrogena Visibly Clear pore and shine daily scrub in tangerine and lime'(FAR RIGHT) I love the Neutrogena brand and am exited to try this facial scrub. I am apprehensive as to whether this will do anything but I am willing to try!

'Herbal Essences: hello hydration, deep nourishing intensive mask'-  I have wanted to purchase a hair mask for a while after getting my damaged hair recently cut and I want to ease into the hair mask world and not spend a small fortune. this was on offer for only £2 and know I  will probably have to spend more to get the desired effect. The scent is not my favourite however does remind me of a Hawaiian mojito.

My Favourite Bag!

Hello! Today's blog is about my favourite bag.

This bag is from Urban Outfitters and I have had it for at least two years, I absolutely love it because it is so compact, small and a really great colour. This bag itself reminds me of a smaller satchel, which appealed to me greatly. Another great feature of the bag is the quality and length of the strap which were both huge bonuses! This is perfect for when I do not want to over pack (which I tend to do frequently) on nights out or trips to the cinema.

The material of this bag seems to be getting better with age and I expect to have this bag for a long time. What is your favourite bag and why?

The secrets to clear skin

Clear skin is something at one point or another we have all coveted, (no thanks to photo-shopped celebrities and FALSE advertisement) a fresh face behind the make-up can be a pain to not only maintain but achieve in the first place and although make-up is fun, sometimes you need to just go au-natural. Fortunately, I have never personally suffered from acne or severely poor skin, however I have my fair share of blotchy, pale, spotty days and suffer in particular from redness, oiliness,  blackheads and patchy anaemic skin. Therefore my teenage years have been a learning curve of finding out how to achieve consistent, clean, clear skin  and although my face always throws me a 'where on earth did that come from?' and spots that are the size of a thumbnail, I feel I have adopted a pretty good routine.  My 3 top tips for clear skin are hopefully useful to you and something you could incorporate into your routine!

1) WATER- Yes I know Captain Obvious, but water is so easy of a step to miss out! I know water is good for you, however there have been times I have been sceptical about the true power of water on my skin however water hydrates and flushes toxins and bacteria from your body and face. Do not underestimate the power of drinking water every day, get yourself into a routine, before school or before bed (If you choose this option I am not responsible for any accident that may or may not occur) and be consistent. Fresh water =Fresh face. By drinking water you are just giving your body a little help and your skin a push in the right direction!

2) VIGOUROUS DAILY CLEANSING - Again obvious, but this is so important! If you want clean, clear skin you need to take care of your face. Now, although a good cleanser is important along with toners, primers and moisturisers in maintaining your skin, before all of this make sure your face is sparkling clean! Whether you decide to shower beforehand, or simply wash your face with some warm water and a flannel make sure you do! If not, you are just asking for trouble! Do not let makeup build up and be consistent in your routine to get the best results. I highly recommend exfoliating gloves, although they may seem very harsh on your skin, I suffer from blackheads and my face seems to attract dirt therefore these gloves work brilliantly (along with a facial scrub or cleanser) in effectively removing dirt and blackheads before I moisturise. Be careful with your skin if you use exfoliating gloves, especially if you skin is sunburned, cracked or extremely sensitive!

3) LET YOUR SKIN BREATHE- Allowing your skin to breathe is important, whether this is at night, or a day in the week be brave and go natural for a day. Make-up despite your best efforts can build up and upset your skin, therefore makeup free days are crucial. Grab your best friend, a face pack, some sliced cucumbers and have a chilled day! Or even better if you go outside during the makeup free day, be confident! There is a reason your skin feels so good on holiday!

These are just my top tips for my skin, I would love to hear yours! Remember nobody has completely clear skin, a lot of us wear make-up so we are all in the same boat regardless of the severity of your skin. Be confident and you will find a routine that works well for you!

ANTS!

This is completely random, but I am so freaked out. On my way to bed at the reasonable time of 4:00am, I have just discovered an army of ants,  at the bottom of my stairs invading my bag and nibbling on my sour patch kids:( I honestly think I am more upset about my un-salvageable kids, than the fear of invasion and unfortunate mass-murder of ants that occurred with my brothers football boots, the evidence of which will provide my mum with a great morning surprise.  Now of course, I currently cannot stop getting goose-bumps and itching because of my fear of them being on me, or the fear of the families of the murdered ants (thank you for that lovely story mother) seeking revenge and just having found one in my bra, (way to go ant!) my paranoid self will struggle to sleep. Now if you are thinking why have I left them, to be honest I really don't know what to do, I am pretty sure they can't kill me because a) I live in the UK and don't think any insect can kill us and b) ants can't climb stairs. I would also like to add this does occur during the summer sometimes in our house and yes we should probably do something.  Does anybody else get this horrible feeling with creepy crawlies?
If you are reading this, you have taken the time to read my blog for which I am really excited and thankful for.  I am an honest, sarcastic gal with a love for geese, family guy and anybody with a quick wit and a story to tell, and who despite my mothers greatest attempts, cannot seem to grow up. My blogs will be varied, from beauty, fashion, travel and food to topics that just take my interest, so this will be full of variation, quirkiness - and a dash of sarcasm, so come along for the ride!
